Rep. Evans Appointed Co-Chair of the Illinois Future of Work Task Force

Chicago, Illinois – The future of the Illinois workforce continues to evolve, and government policy must be prepared to facilitate business growth, while protecting the working class. State Rep. Marcus C. Evans, Jr. (D-Chicago) understands this balance and teamed up with State Senator Ram Villivalam (D-Chicago) to file and advance HB 645 which allows for the creation of the Illinois Future of Work Task Force. Governor JB Pritzker signed the bill on August 19, 2021.

The Illinois Future of Work Task Force was created by the Illinois Future of Work Act (Public Act 102-0407) to be proactive and plan for the future of work while simultaneously addressing the state of work today. Rep. Evans serves as Co-Chair of the task force with Senator Ram Villivalam, along with other members made up of numerous elected officials, labor leaders, and businesses including Uber, United Airlines, The Chicago Federation of Labor, City Colleges of Chicago, and the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.

“I appreciate Speaker Welch for appointing me as co-chair of this impactful, forward thinking Taskforce,” said Assistant Majority Leader Marcus C. Evans, Jr. “As the Chairman of the Labor & Commerce committee, I support policy to strengthen our businesses community and value the contributions of the working class of Illinois.”

The first meeting was held at Olive Harvey College and subsequent meetings will be announced. The Illinois Future of Work Task Force shall issue a report based upon its findings to the Governor and the General Assembly no later than May 1, 2022 and is dissolved upon the filing of its report.
