Rep. Evans Votes to Support Electric Vehicle Development in Illinois

Incentivizes Electric Vehicle Manufacturers to Move to or Expand in Illinois

Rockford, Illinois –The future of electric vehicle manufacturing and clean energy transportation is here and Governor Pritzker is taking real action. In concert with Governor Pritzker, Rep Evans is working in the Illinois House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Chris Welch to advance forward thinking legislation like this act.

Rep. Evans chief sponsored the historic Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, which is one of the nation’s most progressive, clean energy laws. It provided financial support for the critical infrastructure needed to transition to more renewable energy alternatives. The Reimagining Electric Vehicles in Illinois Act builds upon this progress by providing incentives for businesses and consumers to select clean energy options.

“The talented and capable workforce of Illinois is ready to demonstrate that we should be the epicenter of electric vehicle manufacturing for the world,” said Assistant Majority Leader Marcus C. Evans, Jr. (D-Chicago). “Governor Pritzker and the legislature through the passage of this bill is proudly abandoning talk and taking real action to facilitate jobs and opportunities for our communities.”

This legislation is meant to encourage electric vehicle makers to move or expand their services in Illinois, which would contribute to Illinois’ goal of putting over 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2030.
