Evans Joins Wheelchair Basketball Game in Support of Special Recreation Services

CHICAGO – State Rep. Marcus C. Evans, Jr., D-Chicago, and fellow legislators recently joined members of the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA) Rolling Falcons basketball team for a game of wheelchair basketball recognizing the team’s accomplishments, and raising awareness of special recreation services. The Falcons qualified for the Wheelchair Basketball Association’s national tournament in Louisville last season.

“This event was a great opportunity to bring attention to the important role sports can have on the lives of all Illinois residents, while celebrating the accomplishments of these gifted athletes,” Evans said. “The LWSRA helps provide an equal opportunity for everyone to participate in organized sports, and I encourage residents to support special recreation programs. As a sports official for the Illinois High School Association, I admire the athleticism and effort that I see from this team, and commend the Falcons on their hard work.”

The Falcons topped Evans’ team of state legislators 35-26.
